VSCDA ELKHART LAKE VINTAGE FESTIVAL

Gorgeous cars showcase racing history against the beautiful fall colors at America’s National Park of Speed! The weekend regularly attracts nearly 300 vintage and historic racecars to run over the three-day event including a field of pre-war models. The fan-friendly paddock is open to spectators for close-up views of amazing racing machines prepared to era-specifications all weekend. On Saturday fans can watch a historic road course reenactment tour, which will leave Road America and follow a route almost identical to the street course driven in the early 1950s.

The Friends of Triumph Present: The Kastner Cup 2013

There are some events that are life changing. Not only one event, but many aspects and sides to a whole experience. Just the thought of it gives me goosebumps. The particular event we are excited about is the Kastner Cup 2013.

I start in 2nd place on the front row due to qualifying in the rain on Saturday. I still ended up a respectable 7th. I had a tooth and nail battle with Mark Wheatley in his fast TR4. Turned the best lap time I’ve run in a Long time – 2:52 and change.

The first 5 minutes are the best. I blast up from 16th on the grid to 2nd before we get to the Kink on the first lap. I chase Cana Comer the rest of the race and finish 2nd behind her and close to a minute ahead of the next car. I could NOT get by Cana, she drove very well:

My front facing camera with the good microphone malfunctioned, so we have rear view only for this race. 😦 I start 4th due to qualifying in the rain, and finish a respectable 11th. I cut out a boring lap in the middle to get it under 20 minutes:
